Stonehenge with Kids - Bring History to Life with the Magic of Storytelling

MORNING

Children are captivated by the mystery of Stonehenge, and there is no shortage of magical legends, fascinating facts, and fun theories to spark their imagination. How did prehistoric people move stones weighing as much as 25 elephants? Was it built by wizards, giants, or something even more extraordinary? Our guides bring the stories to life in a way that keeps young minds engaged and curious throughout. Depending on the age of your little ones, we can tailor the visit to suit them — whether that's exploring the world-class visitor centre first, taking the shuttle to the stones, or embarking on a longer walk through the surrounding prehistoric landscape, where ancient burial mounds and hidden history lie around every corner. A visit to Stonehenge is one of those rare experiences that children genuinely never forget.

Stonehenge Museum

LATE MORNING

After visiting the stones, head to the fantastic visitor centre to bring everything to life! Packed with hands-on exhibitions, ancient treasures dug up from right here in Wiltshire, and a real-life reconstructed Neolithic village, there is so much more to discover. How did they move those enormous rocks? Why did they build it? The visitor centre helps unlock the mysteries — the perfect way to round off an unforgettable adventure!

Lacock Village - Filming Location for Harry Potter and Downton Abbey

LUNCHTIME

Step into a living film set at Lacock, one of England's most perfectly preserved medieval villages — and a favourite location for Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, and Pride and Prejudice. Owned almost entirely by the National Trust, the village has barely changed in centuries, making it feel like a genuine step back in time. Little ones will love spotting the streets and archways they recognise from the big screen, while adults can soak up the charm of the honey-stone cottages and quiet courtyards. Take a gentle stroll through the village, snap some magical photos, and round off your visit with a well-earned lunch.

Avebury for Kids -Touch the Stones

AFTERNOON

Get up close to one of the world's greatest mysteries! Avebury's enormous ancient stone circle is so big that an entire village sits inside it — and unlike many historic sites, you can actually walk right among the stones and touch them. With wide open spaces to run around, history to explore at every turn, and stones taller than a double-decker bus, it's a truly jaw-dropping experience for curious young minds!

Stonehenge Family Friendly Tours - Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Stonehenge suitable for young children?

Stonehenge is a fantastic experience for children of all ages. The wide open landscape gives little ones plenty of room to move around, and our guides are experienced at making the history fun and engaging for younger visitors. The shuttle bus to the stones also means minimal walking for toddlers.

  • What age group is the Stonehenge tour best for?

This tour has been enjoyed by children from toddlers right through to teenagers. We tailor the storytelling and pace to suit your family, so whether you have curious six-year-olds or history-loving twelve-year-olds, the experience works for them.

  • How long is the Stonehenge family friendly tour?

The tour runs for approximately 8–10 hours, covering Stonehenge, the visitor centre, Lacock Village, and Avebury Stone Circle. We build in plenty of breaks along the way, and the pace is always guided by your family's needs on the day.

  • Can we customise the itinerary?

Absolutely. Every tour is private, so the day is entirely yours. If you want to spend longer at Avebury, skip a stop, or adjust the order of visits, we can do that. Just let us know when you book and we'll plan around you.

  • Do you provide child seats?

Yes, child seats are available on request. Please mention the ages and approximate weights of your children when you enquire so we can make sure everything is ready for your travel day.

  • Where do you pick us up from?
